Doyens Designs is run by Sean and his wife — a husband-and-wife team who got tired of party games that needed a subscription, puzzle tools that locked everything behind a paywall, and software that felt like it was built for enterprise IT rather than a family game night.
So we started building our own. KnowIt grew out of wanting a real Jeopardy-style game we could host at home without juggling PowerPoints and scorecards. PuzzleForge came from needing custom word puzzles for a classroom event and finding that every tool either cost too much, required an account, or produced ugly output.
We're a small shop — just the two of us — which means every product gets built with genuine care and frustration-driven motivation. We use the things we make, which keeps the bar honest. If it's not good enough to use ourselves, it doesn't ship.
Our philosophy is simple: try before you buy, pay once and own it forever, and never need a subscription to do something simple. We're just getting started — games, printables, invitations, and more are on the way.

How do I get my download after purchasing?
Your Access Key is included in a downloadable PDF attached to your Etsy order. Open the PDF to find your key, then either visit the Download page to get the desktop installer (Windows & Mac), or play directly in your browser — visit KnowIt Play or PuzzleForge Play and enter your key to launch with no install required.
Does it work on both Windows and Mac?
Yes — every purchase includes installers for both platforms. One license covers both.
Do I need internet to use the software?
Our desktop apps work without an internet connection once installed. No internet required to run them.
What if I lose my license key?
Check your Etsy order history — your key is in the downloadable PDF attached to your order. If you can't find it, message us on Etsy and we'll help you out.
Will I get future updates?
Yes. When we release updates, you'll be able to re-download the latest version from the download page using your existing license key.
